Arashi no Yoru ni

May 21, 2008

This is really a very nice anime to watch, funny and touching. It is about how a goat and a wolf become the best of friends. The conversations are relatively easy to understand too. And I especially love the theme song (star) sany by Aiko. you must listen to it.

Alice Nine on the Cover (Part II)

April 2, 2008

At Kinokuniya Orchard yesterday, I can’t seem to find Arena 37C Special and Shoxx anywhere.  Given that Arena 37C issue 4 was only shipped in yesterday and Shoxx was just released on last Saturday (29 March), this tells me that they are not shipped in yet by Kinokuniya-singapore. In other words, for those who missed Neo Genesis which was already shipped in last week, no worry. there’re still Arena 37C Special and Shoxx.

Guess I’m the lucky one cos I think I bought the last Neo Genesis remaining at Kinokuniya Orchard ^_^ However, it’s rather expensive..BUT..I think it’s worth it. So, hereby, I wish good luck to those who’s still waiting to buy Arena 37C Special or Shoxx or both.

Alice Nine on the Cover

March 30, 2008

Good news for Singapore Alice Nine fans out there! Following the release of ‘Mirror Ball’ single, Alice Nine is appearing on the front covers of Japanese magazines, Neo Genesis, Arena 37C special, as well as Shoxx in April and May.

Source of Pictures: http://www.ongakusenkasha.co.jp/; http://neo-genesis.jp/

If I’m not wrong and not too late, these issues have not been shipped in by Kinokuniya-singapore yet. So, for those who’s intending to buy the magazines, stay watch at Kinokuniya-singapore website. I would too go into the website regularly. But, for me, I would prefer to buy Neo Genesis instead cos I think they look better on the Neo Genesis’s cover.

Disco ball!! *_*

March 27, 2008

After weeks of hair pulling, nail biting, chest pounding, Alice Nine has finally released their 12th single today ^_^ So, let us welcome ‘Mirror Ball‘, the shiniest, grooviest single in the WHOLE world. I’m not exaggerating. What else can be better than a ball covered in pieces of mirrors, hanging above the centre of the disco floor and turning round continuously. Moreover, it helps you save electricity *wink* you know what I mean.

For those who know who’s Alice Nine, you’re probably jumping with joy right now. But for those who full of ??? in their head, no worry. I will introduce Alice Nine as time to come. So, if you are interested, just stay tune to this blog. I will try my very best to deliver the information to your screen as fast as I could.

Okok. Now back to Alice Nine.

Alice Nine is a visual kei band signed under the record label of PScompany just like Kagrra,. In fact, it is the junior of Kagrra,. Making up of 5 members namely:

Shou, the vocalist
Hiroto & Tora, the guitarists
Saga, the bassist, and
Nao, the drummer (leader),

Alice Nine has released a number of singles and albums since about 3 years ago when they started out in Year 2005. And today, they just released a new single called ‘Mirror Ball’.

‘Mirror Ball’ single basically comes with 3 songs titled,

1. Mirror Ball
Memoire d’une fleur-

Accompanying their release of ‘Mirror Ball’ single, the song ‘Mirror Ball’ in the single is used as the theme song for a coming-soon-to-the-screen Japanese movie called Aquarian Age This movie is in fact a live-action movie based on a popular Japanese trading card game (TCG) as well as the anime that comes in the same name. You have probably come across this anime before.

For now, let us watch their latest PVs. If you want to know more about them, I will gradually post up their discography as well as their past PVs. Since they are my favorite visual kei band members, please don’t be surprised if I post a lot about them.

Kagrra,

March 22, 2008

Kagrra, is a visual kei band that consists of 5 members, namely:

> Isshi, the vocalist
> Akiya and Shin, the guitarists
> Nao, the bassist and
> Izumi, the drummer

Initially when they started out, they formed an indies band and were signed to the record label, ‘Key Party Records’, under the band name of ‘Crow’. After some times, they moved to the record label, ‘PS company‘ where they formed a new band called Kagrra,. It is said that the band name is spelt as Kagrra in the first place, without the comma. As a visual kei (视觉) band, the band members decided to add a comma after the name to give it a darker feel.

Rather than saying visual kei, Kagrra, is in fact a neo-japanesque band. Different from other visual kei bands, Kagrra,’s songs have a mix of rock and traditional Japan flavours in them. So don’t be surprised if you come across a picture or video of them in girls’ yukatas/kimonos. This kind of uniqueness makes it a point I liked about them. But let’s exclude the ‘dressing up in girl yukatas’ part. I am embarrassed about seeing them dressing in girls’ traditional clothes when they don’t look feminine. Well, it is the past anyway.

Until now, Kagrra, has released a total of 19 singles and 10 albums, including 12 indies singles and 6 indies albums. Their latest release is an album named ‘Core‘, which came out on 9 January this year. It contains 10 new songs whose titles are as follow:

1. Irodori no sanka
2. Ujo
3. Shigatsu tsuitachi
4. Guilty
5. Bokyaku no hate no kogoeta kodoku
6. Sai
7. Kaze no kioku
8. Kamikaze
9. Yuki koi uta
10. Shin hyakkiyako

Before ‘Core’ album came out to the market, they released a single named ‘Utakata‘ and an album called ‘Shizuku‘ on 22-11-2006 and 14-02-2007 respectively. Among the songs in these two productions, my favourite would be ‘Utakata’, a song that is played using several music instruments, ranging from classical violin, ascoustic guitar, electric guitar, drum to guzheng (chinese name ‘古筝’). I like the neo-japanesque (rock-japan mix) feel and impact of the song. It is absolutely brilliant.

Oku Hanako – Koi

March 15, 2008

I had come across this song by chance and i think that this is quite a nice song.

Official Lyrics:

I could not find the translated version. So i had to do it myself. However, my Japanese is lousy. Anyway, here goes.

I meet the two of you by chances in the streets.
That girl is your girlfriend that you had mention before.
Compare to things like you are made for each other,
the smiling face that you had never shown before had been more vexing.

Why it can’t be me?
Why, it won’t work if it is not you?

I like you but yet…..
Let the unreached feeling be kept deep in my heart.
It’s so painful till I couldn’t breathe.
Can I maintain this kind of feelings towards you if this goes on?
How good it is if the person who you like also likes you….

I wish that there are people with the same personality
and the same face as you.
What a silly thing to say.
It’s just like drinking a cup of bitter coffee.

How many times had I try to give up.
How many times i hate it.

Let me lie to myself with this feeling for a while.
It’s so quiet that I long for some voices.
For how long will I continue to think about you.
How good it is if the person who you like also likes you….

I really need the translation. I don’t think i translate correctly. Who wants to correct me? . I hope i could just simply paste the Japanese lyrics into the google translator and translate it. Hopefully i translate correctly.

Tsukiko Amano – Chou (蝶)

March 5, 2008

If you have played ‘Fatal Frame II – the Crimson Butterfly’ before, then you would be familiar with the white-red kimono which the lady is wearing in the PV screenshot shown below.

Yesh! This kimono was worn by the ghost of one of the twins that were involved in the sacrificial ritual decades ago as mentioned in the story of the game.

Surely, you wouldn’t be unfamiliar with the character the lady in the following PV screenshot is depicting. The character is none other than the other twin sister who was sacrificed during the ritual, and whose spirit was transformed into a crimson butterfly later.

These screenshots are in fact taken from the PV of a song called ‘Chou’ (蝶), which is also the theme song for ‘Fatal Frame II – the Crimson Butterfly’ PS2 game. As someone who does not possess any game gadget, I only come across the game a few days ago. Too late? Maybe. My curiosity spurred me to start searching for anything that is related to the game on the net. And that’s how I get to know the song, ‘Chou’, and the female Japanese singer, Tsukiko Amano

February 27, 2008

I think i am slow in discovering this song. Here is the lyrics.

“Doukadeo ai shita koto arimasuka?”

English translated:

Order made by radwimps

I think I must have been asked this once.
Before I was born, by someone, somewhere.
“Choose one: the past, or the future,
And I will allow you to see it.
Which will it be?
Which will it be?”

And I probably decided on the past.
So that, rather than just strong, I could become kind, become kind.
So that I could understand what memories are.

Next, that ‘somebody’ told me this.
“I’ll give you arms and legs and mouths and ears and eyes,
Hearts and breasts and nostrils.
I’ll give you two of each one.
Isn’t that great?
Isn’t that great?”

But then I made a request.
I said, I’d be fine with just one mouth.
So I wouldn’t argue with myself;
So I could only kiss one person.

I want to forget.
But somehow, I can’t.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

Looking a little disappointed,
The person continued with his explanation.
“The hearts are most important,
So I’ll put one behind each of your breasts.
Isn’t that great?
Isn’t that great?”

But, once more, I had a request to make.
I’m awfully sorry, but to be honest,
I really don’t need a heart on the right.
Sorry to keep troubling you like this.

It’s so that when I find that one special person,
And hold her close to me for the first time,
Only then will I finally be able to feel
Two hearts beating, one on each side.

The left one mine, the right, yours.
The left one yours, the right, mine.
So that alone, I’ll always be lacking something.
So that I won’t be able to just go on living alone.

I want to forget.
But somehow, I can’t.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

My chest is pounding,
Yet somehow it seems familiar.
What do you call this kind of feeling?

“Ah, that reminds me, there’s one last thing.
Would you like us to add in tears as well?
You’d have no problems without them,
But some people find them annoying, so they opt out.
What would you like?
What would you like?”

In the end, I asked him to add them in.
So that, rather than just strong, I could become kind, become kind.
So I could understand what it means to hold something dear.

“Oh, while we’re at it, the tears will need a flavour.
So I’d just like you to choose which one you’d prefer.
We have sour, salty, spicy, sweet.
You can choose whichever you like.
Which will you have?
Which will you have?”

Everything was put together just as requested,
So wipe those tears away and let me see your face.
Come on, show it to me with pride.

Thank you so much for everything.
Sorry to have caused you so much trouble.
But could I just ask one last thing?
“Have we met somewhere before?”

Comment: This is really a great song with great meaning. It is really like creating a human. The best part i like i think is 忘れたい、でも忘れない. I want to forget but i cannot forget. The part about 1 heart for me so that i would not live alone. Mine would be the left side and hers will be the right. I also like this part.

Somehow this sounds like god creating human. Who cares, it is a great song afterall.
